A Suitable Boy to close 45th Toronto International Film Festival

As the line-up for the 45th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is named, Lookout Point are thrilled to announce that our production of A Suitable Boy, directed by Mira Nair, is closing the prestigious festival.

The series has been one of the BBC’s biggest new drama launches of the year, beating the slot average and garnering a wide range of positive reviews. It will air in the rest of the world on Netflix in the coming weeks (exc N America, China).

Speaking about the news Mira Nair said: “I am ecstatic and honoured for A Suitable Boy to be screened at TIFF – the extraordinary home of global cinema.”

While Lookout Point CEO Faith Penhale added: “It is a huge honour that A Suitable Boy has been selected to be a part of TIFF and testament to visionary director Mira Nair, master screenwriter Andrew Davies and the uniquely brilliant novel by Vikram Seth. We hope that this joyous series resonates as powerfully with the Toronto audience and the film community as powerfully and successfully as it has with UK television viewers”.

TIFF Co-head and Artistic Director Cameron Bailey said “We began this year planning for a 45th festival much like our previous editions. But along the way we had to rethink just about everything. This year’s line-up reflects that tumult. The names you already know are doing brand new things this year, and there’s a whole crop of exciting new names to discover. We’re thankful to every filmmaker and company that joined us on this adventure, and we can’t wait to share these brilliant [projects] with our audiences.”
